| Success at the Annual Novi Golf Show |
A sneak peak at the soon warmer weather intrigued many to venture out to the Novi Golf Show the weekend of March 5th, 6th and 7th. The coordinators of the Novi Golf Show said that the attendance was the largest on record! For the EWGAMD, the show was a huge success with over 100 slips trying to vie at winning the Women's Golf Bag the EWGAMD was giving away in a special drawing. With newly connected sponsor, Merrill Lynch, Dearborn, our gals met with many prospective new members and also reached out to former and current members. The golf show was a great success and we had a winner for the Golf Bag drawing. The winner of the women's golf bag was Cara Matteson from Dearborn. A special THANK YOU to Patti Barr, Bridgette Dawson, Rita Foster, Zoe MacDonald, Candace Robinson and Jackie Vaughn for their part in making the EWGA Metro Chapter a part of the Novi Golf Show.

| 2010 Championship Stroke Play Flight Changes |
For those who haven't checked the stroke play info for this year's Championship - the flights have been adjusted. The index limit is back to 12.0 for the Championship flight; the limit for the First is 19.0, and it's 25.0 for the Second. With the 8.0 limit for the Championship flight, there were zero competitors in 2008 at our Regional’s, and only a handful last year. Both years, some competitors in the Champs flight automatically advance to Nationals, which did not seem fair at all to me. The third flight was most competitive - full in every region and the other flights were also hard-fought at Regional’s. I think my chapter is quite typical and just looking at the 69 members who keep their handicaps on the EWGA system: The average handicap is 24.6. Only 4 members are single digits, 18 have handicaps in the teens, 30 or darn close to half have handicaps in the 20's, and 17 are 30+. Just for fun, I "flighted" them with the new stroke play limits, and the number and percentage falling into each flight as of the 2/15 update: Championship -7 or 10% , First - 12 or 17%, Second - 12 or 17%, Third - 24 or 35%, Fourth - 14 or 20% . I'm currently sitting in the third, as usual, and it looks to be the most competitive yet again. So my goal is to drop a couple of strokes and get down to the second by May!

| 2010 Count Me Healthy Bracelet Offer |
If you have a fitness or health goal, you are likely counting something -- reps, whole-grain servings, glasses of water, workout sessions per week, calories. That's the epiphany that came to Oakland University graduate Chelsea Charles Gossett seven years ago as she plugged away on a treadmill, reading a women's magazine advising people to journal to reach their health targets. "But that's not always convenient," she thought at the time. And so an idea was born: What if there was something women could wear that would serve as motivation and also keep track of their goals? Charles Gossett, 29, launched Count Me HealthyJewelry in late 2008. The bracelets come withvarious themes, but each features 12 sterling silver beads that slide along a silver band. The beadsstay in place once moved, allowing wearers to keep track of how many strokes they've taken on thegolf course or how many laps they've run around the track. They gained national attention when NBC's "Today" featured one in a roundup of helpful healthproducts last January. Now, the one-time marketing director for Volkswagen in Auburn Hills has taken what was a hobby --designing jewelry -- and made it a career. The bracelet is patented and trademarked, sold online (www.countmehealthyjewelry.com) and in retailers across the country, including Todd's Room, a salon and spa in Birmingham. It sells for $88. Charles Gossett, who grew up in Mt. Clemens and graduated from Regina High School in HarperWoods in 1998, says, "It's a tool. It's a beautiful tool and a constant reminder to be healthy."Her newest themed bracelet is called "Helping Hearts," just in time for February and American HeartMonth. The etching on the beads has a heart imprint, and 25% of the proceeds go to WomenHeart, the National Coalition of Women with Heart Disease, which helped with the design. The bracelets willbe worn in a Women-Heart event in Times Square later in the month."If you look at heart disease and even cancer, there are things that can help prevent it – those healthy rituals you do daily for prevention," Charles Gossett says. "You can count heart-healthy super foods on Count Me Healthy, for instance."Novi resident Terri Taylor has two bracelets. She uses one to count exercise sessions. The other is agolf-themed bracelet. Taylor is the president of the Metro Detroit chapter of the Executive Women'sGolf Association.
